Mentors are role models, provide guidance and add a little fun to a child's life. Students seven years old and older are eligible to be mentored. Mentor pairs meet at school the first year. After the first year mentors spend time with their mentees in various activities meant to help broaden the child's horizons. These activities range from knitting lessons to visiting museums and going whale watching.

Studies have shown that children who are mentored are less likely to engage in "risky" behavior such as smoking, drinking and drugs and are more likely to stay in school. Statistics also show that a child is more likely to succeed if they know that someone is interested in their success.
