Star Kids Scholarship Program

The Star Kids Scholarship Program provides tuition scholarships and funding for related educational supports (tutoring, books, uniforms, after-school programs, summer camps and more) to low-income, at-risk children in grades K – 12 with a parental history of incarceration and/or substance abuse.

The goals of the program are for each child to graduate from high school, be in a better position to pursue post-secondary education, and to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty, drug use and incarceration.

Job Responsibilities

  • Program Management

    •    Serve as a primary contact with Star Kids students and families, partner schools, local social services agencies and providers of after-school and summer activities to ensure the best academic and extracurricular experience for each student

    •    Oversee tutoring program

    •     Maintain communications with middle- and high school students and families regarding the high
    school and college application processes; coordinate College-Bound Program

    •     Plan 4-5 student/family events each year

    •     Create and administer annual surveys for after-school/summer activities and alumni

    •     Prepare yearly program outcome assessment

  • Fundraising/Development

    •     With Event Committee, plan and execute annual spring fundraising event and a few smaller fundraising events

  • Communications

    •     Serve as primary producer of website and social media content

    •     Assist with content and production of Annual Report and Annual Appeal

  • Data Management and Budgeting

    •     Manage eTapestry database system to track donor giving and student statistics

    •     Review monthly budget

Program Director works closely with Executive Director, Executive Assistant and two School Liaisons, and reports to Executive Director

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $45,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree

Experience in the fields of education, development, human resources, communications or business management

Minimum three - five years’ related experience
